Clean Air. Lower Bills. A Better Future for Our Communities.

Right now, Latino families across California are feeling the pressure from high gas prices, rising medical costs, and polluted air in our neighborhoods.

And it's getting worse.

Problems happening overseas, including conflict in Iran, are driving up oil prices—and that means higher gas prices here at home. We can't control what happens around the world, but we can choose not to rely on expensive, polluting, unpredictable gas markets. Moving to EVs means more stable costs, cleaner air, and stronger communities.

Support policies and investments that deliver cleaner, more affordable cars and trucks to our communities.

In California, many families are already paying close to $6 per gallon, in some locations even more. That hits Latino communities especially hard, where many families already spend a high amount of their income on gas and experience some of the highest rates of poverty in California.

This is what happens when we depend on gas: when prices go up, we have no control, and we're the ones who pay.

There's a better, more affordable way to drive forward.

Electric vehicles (EVs) can save families money, with some families saving up to $2,000 a year on gas and tens of thousands more over time. Charging at home is cheaper than filling up at the pump, and EVs don't need oil changes or expensive engine repairs.

Today's EVs are reliable, go over 300 miles on a charge, and come in all types: SUVs, trucks, and family cars.

But not everyone has access yet, and that needs to change.

Latino communities are exposed to more pollution and often pay more for fuel. That's why California must invest in solutions that make clean transportation affordable for everyone.

Here's what we need:

  • $200 million for EV rebates: Help families and small businesses afford new and used electric cars and trucks.
  • Heavy-duty EV incentives: Help tradespeople and businesses afford trucks that use zero diesel.
  • The “California Clean Skies Act” (AB 1777): Cut pollution from diesel trucks in places like warehouses and ports—areas that impact our communities the most.
  • More affordable EV options: Strong state standards will push car companies to bring down prices and offer more choices.
  • More charging and industry support: California's Cap-and-Invest program helps build charging stations and lower costs so more families can switch.

This is about our health, too.

Polluted air causes asthma, heart problems, and other serious illnesses - on top of exacerbating climate change. Latino children and outdoor workers are especially affected. In some communities, a single asthma emergency can cost a family over $3,000.

The equation is simple: cleaner cars mean cleaner air, and fewer hospital visits.
