Passing Infrastructure an Important First Step

Passing Infrastructure an Important First Step

Democrats Must Honor their Agreement and Pass the FULL Build Back Better Act

Colorado - Following the passage of the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill in the House, Mark Magaña, Founding President & CEO of GreenLatinos released the following statement:

”With the House passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework and the House procedural vote to advance the Build Back Better Act we are on our way to helping millions of Latino families and all Americans on their path to recovery.

Together, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework and the Build Back Better Act will invest directly into our communities, improving the lives of millions, and invest in working and middle class families across the country.  GreenLatinos is pleased to see that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework will:

  • Deliver the largest-ever federal investments in public transit and passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak

  • Replace dangerous lead pipes to ensure our kids have clean drinking water.

  • Modernize our electric grid, and making the largest investment in electric vehicle infrastructure in American history.

  • All this while creating good-paying union jobs.

But make no mistake, this deal is only one part of President Biden’s agenda. Now, Congress must immediately work to pass the Build Back Better Act with the significant investments in climate and clean energy. We must put the country on the path to reducing the carbon pollution that drives climate change while creating jobs and opportunity for all.

The Latino community cannot wait, we must have swift action to protect frontline communities from the ravages of climate change. Congress must get us over the finish line and take the necessary initial steps to halt the climate crisis and invest in our clean energy economy."

GreenLatinos is an active comunidad of Latino/a/x leaders, emboldened by the power and wisdom of our culture, united to demand equity and dismantle racism, resourced to win our environmental, conservation, and climate justice battles, and driven to secure our political, economic, cultural, and environmental liberation.
