WASHINGTON—Earlier this week, Chairman. Raúl Grijalva announced he is passing the torch for the Ranking Member position on the House Natural Resources Committee.
In response to this news, GreenLatinos Founding President and CEO, Mark Magaña, released the following statement:
Chairman Raúl Grijalva is a trailblazing and transformational Latino leader whose legacy and impact have improved the lives of all communities nationwide. His unwavering commitment to protecting our precious natural resources, cleaning our air, and safeguarding clean, healthy water in our communities is second to none.
His leadership as the Chair and Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee demonstrates a profound focus on equity, climate justice, and stewarding land, water, and wildlife for our children and their families.
As a key figure of the Latino environmental movement, Chairman Grijalva’s groundbreaking Environmental Justice for All Act encapsulates how Congress can address systemic environmental injustices that have plagued nuestras comunidades for generations.
Chairman Raúl Grijalva’s legacy of leadership and dedication to protecting his comunidad is exemplary. As the congressman recovers and focuses on the priorities of Arizona’s 7th district in the upcoming 119th Congress, his final Congress, we thank him for his decades of leadership, compassion, and fiery defense of our country’s precious natural resources.
