GreenLatinos Applauds Michael Regan’s Confirmation At The EPA

Washington, D.C. — The following is a statement from Mark Magaña, Founding President & CEO of GreenLatinos, on the confirmation of Biden Administration Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan:

“Latinos are suffering under the twin disasters of an out-of-control pandemic, made worse by the last four years of environmental deregulation on top of legacy environmental impacts in our communities. Latinos already disproportionately suffer the effects of the climate emergency — Latinos are twice as likely to go to the emergency room for asthma and Latino children are 40% more likely to die from asthma than their white peers. Our community is yearning for environmental liberation that will bring much-needed relief, and Michael Regan is the person to do it.

We look forward to working with him to enact President Biden's critically important climate policies and to undo the damage the previous administration wrought across the environmental sector. We know that Regan will prioritize our health and environment while creating clean jobs and enforcing our existing environmental laws. Regan must return the EPA to its core mission to protect our health and environment. We look forward to working with Regan at the EPA to build back our environment, our economy, and our communities.”
