Juan Roberto Madrid

Juan Roberto Madrid, BS, MPH

Juan Roberto is a Public Health Professional with 33 years of healthcare experience in the Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Critical Care Flights/medivac, as well as the remote austere environment. The bulk of his experience, 22 years, was through military service as a Navy Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman (SARC 8427) and Special Operations Technician (SOT 8403) assigned to SEAL Teams 1, 3, and SEAL Delivery Vehicle One (SDV-1). Through multiple Humanitarian Medical missions and multiple combat deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, and the First Gulf War Desert Shield/Desert Storm Juan Roberto developed a passion for public health, global health as well as public health education and health promotion.

After his Retirement in 2010 Juan Roberto worked for some of Colorado’s largest healthcare provider systems such as Centura Health and HealthOne. While working for these health systems in a Paramedic role, Paramedic Education role he learned how these systems operated at multiple levels. Juan Roberto has displayed a passion for Rural Health, Health Education and Promotion which lead him to complete his Bachelor Science Degree in Health Professions focusing on Health Education and Promotion. Juan Roberto then went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree from The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health where his concentrations were in Health Communication & Marketing as well as Environmental Health Science & Policy. Combining his passion for the outdoors and health care experience he has been involved in research on how climate change driven drought in the Southwest has been impacting the physical and mental health of farmers and ranchers in the Colorado River Basin.

Juan Roberto has always been passionate about helping others and that led him to start Por Tu Salud, LLC where he has provided countless hours of free health education classes such as CPR, First Aid, high blood pressure education, and diabetes education. All these free classes have been taught to monolingual Spanish speakers to empower them to live healthier lives.

Co-Chair Colorado Governor’s Challenge to Prevent Suicide Among Service Members, Veterans, and their Families
