Sarah Thornbrugh

Sarah is the Community Engagement Manager for GreenLatinos, where she contributes to systems and projects that connect people and communities to resources that amplify their voices and win their fight for environmental freedom. She holds a M.S. in Free-Choice Science Education from Oregon State University, a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Florida, and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Ecological Restoration from the University of Florida. Sarah is a thoughtful and inclusive communicator that is dedicated to working for equitable access and representation conservation and environmental action.
Sarah is proud to have been raised in a multicultural home that reflects the Hispanic and New Mexican culture and heritage of her mother and ancestors, and the European ancestry of her father. While the majority of her family remains in northern New Mexico, she was born in the northeast and raised in the southeast parts of the US. She now lives on the homelands of the Wampanoag people in eastern Massachusetts with her husband and daughter who are citizens of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. Sarah represents one of many multicultural identities within Latinidad and continues to work to learn how to best leverage all of herself to the service of our comunidades y familias for equitable access to and powerful representation for clean air, safe water, and inclusive climate solutions.
Sarah es la Gerente de Participación Comunitaria de GreenLatinos, donde contribuye a sistemas y proyectos que conectan a personas y comunidades con recursos que amplifican sus voces y ganan su lucha por la libertad ambiental. Ella tiene un M.S. en Educación Científica de Libre Elección de la Universidad Estatal de Oregón, un B.S. en Ciencias Ambientales de la Universidad de Florida, y actualmente está cursando un M.S. en Restauración Ecológica de la Universidad de Florida. Sarah es una comunicadora reflexiva e inclusiva que se dedica a trabajar por el acceso y la representación equitativa, la conservación y la acción ambiental.
Sarah se enorgullece de haber sido criada en un hogar multicultural que refleja la cultura y la herencia hispana y de Nuevo México de su madre y sus antepasados, y la ascendencia europea de su padre. Si bien la mayoría de su familia permanece en el norte de Nuevo México, ella nació en el noreste y se crió en el sureste de los EE. UU. Ahora vive en la tierra natal del pueblo Wampanoag en el este de Massachusetts con su esposo y su hija, que son ciudadanos de la tribu Mashpee Wampanoag. Sarah representa una de las muchas identidades multiculturales dentro de la latinidad y continúa trabajando para aprender cómo aprovechar mejor todo de sí misma al servicio de nuestras comunidades y familias para el acceso equitativo y una representación poderosa de aire limpio, agua potable y soluciones climáticas inclusivas.
