Meet the Team

Carlos Matutes

New Mexico Community Advocate, Albuquerque

Carlos is an experienced advocate of outdoor education, recreation, and sustainability. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, he grew up in a Cuban immigrant household. Carlos studied Sociology, Political Science, and Gender Studies at Boise State University and believes that by encouraging engagement with nature we can all develop a greater appreciation and understanding of our environment.

He is an avid mountain biker who also enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and fly fishing.

Since making his move to New Mexico, Carlos has been enjoying every minute spent marveling at the beauty of Sandia Crest with his partner Daniella and their two beloved dogs.
