TELL BIDEN:
Deliver Equitable, Clean Transportation Investments Faster to Achieve Environmental Justice!
Inequitable exposure to air pollution from vehicle tailpipes is one of the clearest examples of environmental racism in the U.S.
Unprecedented federal funding for clean transportation should benefit hard-hit communities first.
On the anniversary of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) vote, GreenLatinos is calling on the Biden Administration to swiftly and equitably distribute those funds – to communities of color and low-income communities – in line with the CHARGE Coalition principles.
TAKE ACTIOn!
TWEET AND TELL BIDEN: DELIVER EQUITABLE CLEAN TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENTS FASTER TO ACHIEVE ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE!
The CHARGE principles align with our Latino Climate Justice Framework (LCJF), which provides a blueprint to help Latino/a/xs in places across the country advocate for climate solutions in our communities. The LCJF identifies advancing clean mobility, transportation, and shipping as critical priorities to achieve energy, environmental and economic justice.
For too long, Latino/a/x communities have shouldered disproportionate impacts of tailpipe emissions and pollution. Federal funds from IIJA must go towards cleaning our air and alleviating the dangers of pollution from heavy-duty (and all) vehicles for frontline communities.
Clean transportation infrastructure that is accessible and affordable offers vast potential to significantly improve health and well-being for all people. This is particularly essential for communities of color, who bear disproportionate burdens of tailpipe pollution and extreme climate events.
The Biden Administration has taken decisive action to clean the air and protect our health. Now is the time to continue this leadership and get cleaner vehicles on the road faster.
With funds from the Inflation Reduction Act and significant public interest in cleaner transportation growing in the last few years, today it is easier than ever to invest in equitable clean vehicle infrastructure.
Momentum is on our side. We cannot wait to deliver these clean air benefits to our communities!
