Washington, D.C. — The following is a statement from Mark Magaña, Founding President & CEO of GreenLatinos, congratulating Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) for his committee assignment to the Environment and Public Works Committee and Sen. Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM) for his assignment to the Commerce, Science, and Transportation committee and to the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions committee.
“GreenLatinos is thrilled that two of our oldest friends — and our newest Latino Senators — have already risen to such esteemed positions in the U.S. Senate. As GreenLatinos prepares to roll back the harmful environment policies of the past four years, take on the climate crisis, and increase equity in the climate justice movement, we look forward to working with both Senators on their important committee assignments with jurisdiction over these vital issues. The future is bright with these two leaders in the Senate fighting for our country and the Latinx community.”
GreenLatinos is a national non-profit organization that convenes a broad coalition of Latino leaders committed to addressing national, regional, and local environmental, natural resources, and conservation issues that significantly affect the health and welfare of the Latino community in the United States
