Job Overview
The Technical Coordinator is responsible for administration and technical support of the Sustainability Certifications programs across operational aspects. Their duties include new business development, client and audit project management, quality assurance, auditor resource management, conducting desk audits, reviewing audit reports, and assessing evidence clients submit to address nonconformities. To accomplish this, the Technical Coordinator will manage daily communications in English and Spanish with clients, SCS program personnel and contract auditors, expense reports, invoices, audit scheduling, trip planning, report review, and application processing. This position works in collaboration with coordinators and associates and reports to the Program Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Communications
- Manage daily email and telephone/Zoom/Microsoft Teams communications in English and Spanish with auditors, clients and accreditation organizations, Verification Organizations and Scheme Owners, and SCS program personnel and contractors
Audit Coordination
- Ensure consistent flow of audit projects
- Prepare audit plans and related audit documents and forms
- Track and manage audit project milestones and deadlines
- Prepare work orders and invoices for clients
- Manage auditor schedules, workloads and travel budgets
- Perform certification review and decision for Food & Agriculture Sustainability Certification programs
- Plan audits and trip itineraries for Sustainability Certifications staff and auditors
- Carry out travel booking and logistical arrangements, as needed
- Review expense reports for Sustainability staff and Regional Auditors
Auditing
- Conduct technical and quality review of audit reports completed by staff and contract auditors
- Conduct post-audit review of corrective action plans and client evidence
- Conduct onsite or remote audits of agricultural production and facility sites as needed
- Assess and confirm certification scope for SCS clients
Operations
- Ensure program compliance with SCS quality system
- Maintain new, existing, and archived program files in accordance with program requirements
- Develop, translate, and edit program materials, communication templates, and report templates
- Additional tasks as requested by the Director and Managers
Qualifications
- Must have strong proficiency or fluency in Spanish. Fluency in English required.
- Excellent technical writing, observation and data management skills, strong communication abilities and demonstrated abilities in critical analysis
- Initiative and ability to work independently; responsive and adaptive personality
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
- Strong time-management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Education and Experience
- Bachelors’ Degree in a related field (Environmental science, Sustainability, Agricultural or Food Systems, etc.) or comparable work experience
- 1-3 years’ experience in relevant profession, ideally involving sustainable agriculture or food systems; extended work experience in relevant disciplines may be considered in lieu of specific educational background
- Scope-specific work or study experience, and/or applied experience in agricultural or food production systems
Physical Requirements
This is an office-based job. Sit 6+ hours per day. Keyboarding 6+ hours per day. Must be able to speak and listen to employees and vendors in person and on the phone.
