The Sierra Club is hiring a regional Organizing Manager in the West to support place-based organizers in building and supporting permanently organized, resilient and powerful communities and the organizing infrastructure to anchor a long term vision and strategy that stops the bad, builds the new and shifts power to communities. The manager supports, coaches, and develops each staff organizer in planning and focusing their work to achieve concrete campaign successes while building long term power centered in equity and justice. The Organizing Manager works with organizers and internal and external partners to develop strong collaborative teams rooted in equity and justice values. Organizers supported by the Organizing Manager will vary in geography and scope of work, with organizers initially anticipated to be based in UT and WY. Campaigns the West Organizing Manager may support include but are not limited to our Beyond Coal Campaign, Our Wild America, and Federal and Political Organizing work.

SKILLS: The successful candidate must have in-depth understanding of grassroots organizing with experience leading organizing campaigns; strong experience and/or demonstrated ability in managing teams and supervising, developing, training, and coaching people; experience using data tools to inform organizing strategy, measure progress and increase effectiveness, and understanding of media use in campaign and organizing strategy; excellent oral communication skills and effective written communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively across diverse identities, communities and audiences. Successful candidates must model effective equity analysis and practice and demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of how group dynamics impact supervisory relationships, organizational culture, partnerships, campaigns and coalition work.
