Climate Nexus (CN) is a nonprofit strategic communications group dedicated to changing the conversation on climate change and clean energy solutions in the United States. Climate Nexus was created to be the behind-the-scenes connector to ensure coherent, effective climate communications and to elevate the work of a broad network of partners, including youth groups, environmental justice allies, state and local leaders, and more.

THE ROLE

Climate Nexus’ digital team is looking for an individual to assist the Senior Manager of Paid Media with planning, implementing, automating, and optimizing large-scale digital advertising campaigns, specifically on programmatic ads. The associate will also provide general digital support to the team. The goal is for this Senior Associate to grow into taking ownership of some programmatic responsibilities.

This person will have a strong interest in all things digital media. They will have a proven ability to create, manage, and optimize programmatic campaigns. This person will be a digital thought-leader who will inform best practices around up-and-coming digital tactics and use analytics and insights to show the outcome of digital efforts.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to Climate Nexus’ values, the ability to respectfully communicate across racial, cultural, and other lines of difference, and an understanding of how paid media can be a tool for impacted communities to advance their work and address historic racial and environmental injustices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft ad copy for paid advertising campaigns across programmatic display, native, and video placements when applicable (StackAdapt is our programmatic platform)
  • Support with all aspects of paid advertising campaigns including setting up campaigns in platform, optimizing campaigns on a regular basis, and reporting throughout the campaign flight
  • Ensure creatives and accounts adhere to disclaimers and advertising verification requirements prior to campaign launches
  • Assist with audience development, including working with external teams to define audience targets and the CRM team to populate first party lists
  • Participate in internal planning meetings and partner brainstorms
  • Track campaign spend and update internal pacing documents
  • Conduct training sessions for team members or partners on key aspects of digital advertising as needed
  • Assist with analyzing paid campaign results using tools such as Google Looker Studio and internal programmatic dashboards within the platform
  • Assist the digital team with a variety of digital requests

ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • 2 - 4 years of relevant programmatic or digital media experience
  • Working knowledge of digital ad platforms and technologies, including programmatic placements (StackAdapt), and paid social (Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, and more)
  • Excellent writing and copy-editing skills, especially for an online audience; attention to detail required.
  • Ability to interpret data and extract compelling narratives for reporting purposes
  • Understanding the distinctions between display, native, and video placements for programmatic campaigns
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Documents, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment
  • Solid communications skills for a remote environment
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to adapt to new situations quickly in an ever-changing industry
  • Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with CRMs (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.) and centralized ad and analytics tools
  • Knowledge of or interest in climate science, climate justice, sustainability or other related fields
  • Agency or nonprofit experience
  • Spanish or another second language
  • Canva and display content creation experience
  • Passion for climate issues and climate justice

LOCATION: Remote. Occasional travel to our New York office may be required. Staff is expected to work East Coast hours, typically 9:30 am - 5:30 pm. Exceptions may be made for those located in other time zones.

While we value work/life balance, due to the nature of our workstream, this role may sometimes require work outside traditional hours.

SALARY RANGE: Approximately $60,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience.
