Climate Nexus (CN) is a nonprofit strategic communications group dedicated to changing the conversation on climate change and clean energy solutions in the United States. Climate Nexus was created to be the behind-the-scenes connector to ensure coherent, effective climate communications and to elevate the work of a broad network of partners, including youth groups, environmental justice allies, state and local leaders, and more.

THE ROLE
Climate Nexus’ digital team is looking for a seasoned Paid Search Specialist to expand our team. Reporting to the Digital Director and Senior Manager of Paid Media, The Paid Search Specialist will be responsible for managing and executing multiple ad campaigns, encompassing diverse tasks such as keyword research, account setup, campaign configuration, and implementation for various internal and external teams.
The Paid Search Specialist will independently establish best practices and execute paid search strategies that drive action. This individual will manage every aspect of our Paid Search ads, from copy development and keyword research to discussions with partners abouts campaign strategy and goals. Additionally, they’ll assist partners with Google Grant applications and launches.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to Climate Nexus’ values, the ability to respectfully communicate across diverse demographics, and an understanding of how paid search can be a tool for impacted communities to advance their work to address historic racial and environmental injustices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft search content for Climate Nexus adhering to organizational guidelines, with an understanding of lobbying rules for 501(c)3
- Develop and continuously optimize keyword lists, ad copy, and landing pages.
- Manage all aspects of paid search, including but not limited to keyword research, automation, conversion tracking, callouts, and bidding optimization
- Support and executing paid search strategies and components of digital campaigns for Climate Nexus and partner initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams to maintain a digital campaign calendar and managing related support processes
- Perform post-paid search campaign analysis and reporting on results
- Develop innovative paid search media plans for upcoming campaign initiatives
- Apply for Google Ad Grants and set up accounts on behalf of partners
- Contribute to training other team members or partners as needed
- Leverage digital intelligence tools to optimize social media tactics and video metrics
- Work with the Senior Manager of Digital Data Analytics to ensure pixels are placed
ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
- 2-4 years’ experience in marketing, advertising, or managing PPC accounts including search network and display network
- Proven ability to deploy an effective local and long-tail search strategy
- Experience budgeting and optimizing paid search campaigns
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends
- Solid communications skills for a remote environment
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment
- Ability to adapt to new situations quickly in an ever-changing industry
- Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
PREFERRED:
- Experience with Google Ad grants
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Google Ads & Google Analytics certifications
- Experience with CRMs (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.) and centralized ad and analytics tools
- Agency or nonprofit experience
- YouTube experience
- Spanish or a second language
- Passion for climate issues and climate justice
LOCATION: Remote. Occasional travel to our New York office may be required. Staff is expected to work East Coast hours, typically 9:30 am - 5:30 pm. Exceptions may be made for those located in other time zones.
While we value work/life balance, due to the nature of our workstream, this role may sometimes require work outside traditional hours.
SALARY RANGE: Approximately $60,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience.
