Protégete Content Coordinator

Location: Colorado

Conservation Colorado & Protégete are seeking a Content Coordinator based anywhere in Colorado who will play a key role in Conservation Colorado’s efforts to build an environmental movement that prioritizes Latinx issues. In this role, you will elevate Latinx leadership by driving and creating Latinx-centered, culturally relevant, and bilingual content to tell Protégete’s story, expand our membership, shape Latinx public opinion, and win campaigns.

What You’ll Do

Conservation Colorado’s Protégete team is growing and shifting its focus to developing environmental leaders in the Latinx community who will drive climate, land water, and environmental justice policy. This new position reports directly to the Protégete Director and is a real opportunity to expand our reach to a statewide level.

As the Protégete Content Coordinator, you’ll create relevant, culturally competent content and develop communications strategies that engage audiences like Latinos, Spanish speakers, those not traditionally part of the environmental movement, and other hard-to-reach audiences. Your role will include:


Create written content

  • Collaborate with our Communications team to create materials that tell Protégete’s story, centering Latinx priorities and environmental leaders
  • Create culturally competent, Spanish/English bilingual materials such as emails, newsletters, and blog posts
  • Implement a communications plan that establishes Protégete as a trusted Latinx resource on climate and environmental justice-related issues
  • Create and maintain a Protégete content calendar

Social media

  • Create daily content for Protégete’s social media channels, positioning Protégete as a leader in the climate and environmental justice space
  • Use digital tools to reach Protégete members with opportunities to take action

Coordinate communications

  • Work with our Communications team to improve the cultural competency of Conservation Colorado's messaging
  • Assist with the development of press materials and media outreach
  • Collaborate with other staff to create an organization-wide Spanish language style guide

In addition to your regular responsibilities, all staff are expected to participate at some level in organizational priorities including helping in certain fundraising efforts, taking part in our election-related activities, and committing to our organizational efforts around equity and inclusivity.



Fundamentally, we are looking for someone who enjoys creating materials & sharing stories that inspire people to take action. More specifically, you will have or be most or all of the following:

  • 1 or more years of experience with communications work: Experience in social media or in messaging to Latinx audiences is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent writing skills: Skills creating culturally competent materials are vital to succeed in this position. We want someone whose work reflects Latine culture and resonates with communities across the state, with people of differing racial, ethnic, and social identities.
  • Spanish and English bilingualism: You must be fluent in Spanish and English in order to communicate with Protégete’s audience.
  • Collaboration skills: This position requires working with the Protégete team and Conservation Colorado as a whole to move projects forward. You’ll often work with people who you don’t have formal authority over.
  • Self-driven and adaptable: Due to our work in the political space, we work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. You will need to be self-driven and able to juggle multiple projects at once, and be agile enough to adapt when circumstances change at a moment's notice.

This position does not have an undergraduate education requirement. This is a full time job but there can be some flexibility in the exact schedule.


Compensation and Benefits:

The full time salary range for this role is between $50,000-58,000, based on a wage analysis across the organization and new staff rarely starting at the top of the range.
