GreenLatinos Background

GreenLatinos is a national network of Latino environmental and conservation advocates. Our non-profit organization (501c3) convenes a broad coalition of Latino leaders committed to addressing national, regional, and local environmental, natural resources, and conservation issues that significantly affect the health and welfare of the Latino community in the United States.

GreenLatinos provides an inclusive table at which its members establish collaborative partnerships and networks to improve the environment; protect and promote conservation of land and other natural resources; amplify the voices of low-income and tribal communities; and train, mentor, and promote the current and future generations of Latino environmental leaders for the benefit of the Latino community and beyond.

GreenLatinos develops and advocates for policies and programs to advance this mission.

GreenLatinos core policy priorities are: Climate Change & Clean Air, Clean Water Equity, Clean Transportation, Public Lands & Ocean, and Environmental Justice & Civil Rights.

Position Description

The GreenLatinos’ Climate Change & Clean Air Program Manager will lead GreenLatinos Climate, Clean Air, Methane & Mercury programming with support from GreenLatinos staff. The scope of this work falls within our Climate & Clean Air, and the Environmental Justice & Civil Rights core policy priorities.

The GreenLatinos Climate & Clean Air Program seeks to recruit, organize, educate, and mobilize Latino communities to advocate for just and inclusive policy-making, actions, and solutions that address the historic barriers communities experience in their efforts to advance Climate & Clean Air priorities.

These priorities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Recruit GreenLatinos Members to our Climate & Clean Air working group
  • Advocating for broad & bold climate action at the federal level
  • Amplifying climate and clean air solutions proposed by GreenLatinos’ Latinx partner organizations
  • Advocating for communities impacted by climate change & extreme weather
  • Prioritizing the health and safety of the most impacted communities, including fenceline communities and frontline workers.
  • Defending and advancing the Clean Air Act, Mercury, and Air Toxics Standards, and other public health-related environmental standards
  • Reducing methane waste and pollution from oil and gas development
  • Reducing carbon dioxide emissions
  • Eliminating disproportionate pollution from power plants and other sources in environmental justice communities
  • Promoting equitable access to clean energy solutions & economies
  • Supporting anti-racist policies that address issues that intersect with climate and clean air policy, including but not limited to housing, equal pay, and healthcare.

The Climate & Clean Air Program Manager (“Manager”) will focus on deepening GreenLatinos’ work and engagement of its network on these priorities. They will be responsible for developing and executing a growing portfolio of climate & clean air issue-based advocacy, grant management, programming, and communications.


The Manager will identify opportunities to elevate the voices of Latino community members in programming, policy, media, and will promote policy and legislative solutions that benefit the well-being of Latino communities within the broader environmental movement, among Latino and ally organizations, with federal elected officials, and the Administration. This work will take place in accordance with GreenLatinos’ operations, partnerships, and engagement strategies.


The Manager must be a well-organized individual who has experience working with diverse constituencies (communities of color, local organizations, businesses, government, foundations, and green groups), working in coalition with grassroots and national environmental organizations, and advocating for and implementing fair and equitable partnership practices with these communities. The Manager must have the ability to develop and execute a work plan that includes policy, communications, grassroots engagement, and assisting the CEO with issue area fundraising strategies to meet the goals of the program, utilize resources effectively, and establishes measurable results.


The ideal candidate is self-driven, a team player, and comfortable working remotely. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate (verbally & in writing) their working needs clearly and report accordingly with their supervisors and other staff to ensure success. The ideal candidate understands that it is critical to uphold professional practices as a representative of GreenLatinos and its network during all work-related functions including travel, receptions, and events.


The Climate & Clean Air Program Manager will report directly to the Policy Coordinator.




  • Lead GreenLatinos participation in Climate Action Campaign, USCAN, Methane Partners Coalition, Mercury community, and other climate & clean air specific coalitions.
  • Plan and implement congressional meetings/briefings/advocacy training and fly-ins related to issues in the Climate & Clean Air portfolio.

Member Organizing:

  • Serve as primary lead for Climate & Clean Air Working Group and expand the capacity of the working group
  • Develop and cultivate a growing list of GreenLatinos members active and interested in climate, clean air & clean transportation issues.
  • Coordinate GreenLatinos members to organize community actions such as community education materials, community training, local elected meetings, and advocacy, including online/virtually.


  • Work with our communications team to provide support with content including press statements, social media content, graphics, blog posts, op-eds, etc to be disseminated to GreenLatinos members, partners, and the general public on issues under Climate & Clean Air Program
  • Lead the creation of policy education materials including fact sheets, infographics, legislative updates related to the Climate & Clean Air Program portfolio issues
  • Assist with the preparation of talking points, briefing materials, and reports related to GreenLatinos’ Climate & Clean Air portfolio for GreenLatinos CEO, Board, and GreenLatinos Members when necessary.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of GreenLatinos Members Updates including Monthly Webinar, Quarterly Newsletter, Update Emails, Announcements, and more.

Program Management:

  • Work with GreenLatinos staff to develop a strategy and work plan for the Climate & Clean Air Program which may include the development of grant proposals and criteria, submission process, outreach, budget execution, grants management, and reporting for grantees.
  • Assist National Policy Director and other GreenLatinos staff with funder updates, grant management, and reporting related to Climate & Clean Air Program.


  • Assist in the planning and execution of virtual GreenLatinos events (before the pandemic, this included: receptions, briefings, On The Road: Local Solutions events, the GreenLatinos National Summit, National Latino Environmental Advocacy Week, GreenLatinos Live! and more.)
  • Potential Virtual GreenLatinos National Summit
  • This position may require some travel within the United States if it is safe to do so in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Must hold at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of work experience.
  • Dedication to anti-racism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice in the environmental movement.
  • Experience working with climate and clean air issues.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse communities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely via writing and verbally.
  • Must have a personal laptop computer and cell phone to use for work.

Desired qualifications, not required:

  • Proficiency in analyzing and synthesizing national and state/local policy.
  • Comfort and desire to build close professional relationships with individual GreenLatinos members which include Latinx environmental leaders, national Latinx-interest organizations, state or local environmental organizations including Latinx-led groups or environmental justice organizations.
  • Understanding of science underpinning climate change, air pollution, and disparate health impacts in communities of color
  • Spanish speaking and writing capabilities are a plus.
  • Ability to develop and maintain budgets and expense reports.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or ID for travel.
