About the job
Through its Climate & Energy (C&E) program, the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) advances innovative legal strategies to protect human rights and the planet both from the drivers of climate change and from the responses to it; to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels; and to hold state and corporate actors accountable for their role in the climate crisis. The Program Associate for Corporate Climate Accountability supports implementation of the C&E Program’s work to address the human rights and environmental impacts of the fossil fuel industry, the petrochemical industry, and other heavy-emitting sectors that drive climate change, and to hold those companies to account for their role in causing or contributing to past and ongoing harms and delaying the needed transition to a clean energy future.
The Program Associate will assist Program staff in facilitating and participating in coalition spaces, maintaining effective working relationships with partner organizations, conducting non-legal research in support of Program objectives and campaigns, drafting public-facing materials, supporting intra- and cross-program information flow and communication, and organizing events and other logistics to advance campaign objectives.
The position requires highly effective writing, research, and organizational skills, familiarity with advocacy campaigns and coalition dynamics, and the ability to work in collaborative processes with people from diverse backgrounds. The position may require occasional national and international travel. The Program Associate reports to the Program Director.
