Starting salary up to $33.59/hour* ($70,106/year) plus a cash allowance of approximately $600/month*
County of Sonoma's Regional Parks include more than 50 parks, trails, and beaches from Petaluma to Gualala and Sonoma to Bodega Bay. Many offer wild landscapes while others feature sports fields, playgrounds, campgrounds, boat launches, and an environmental education center. As the department's Parks Operations Specialist, you will assist our executive management team by providing technical and administrative support for a variety of department-wide efforts. You will work closely with the Park Manager, Operations Analyst, and Park Project Specialist in a collaborative environment to support the Regional Parks operational needs. This position will work most of the time in the office and will have the opportunity to work a percentage of the time in the parks coordinating with field staff and/or partner agencies. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Researching projects, including current legislation and trends in order to help move new park construction projects through the process
- Creating reports and presenting information to the team
- Coordinating and scheduling meetings, including drafting agendas and note taking
- Creating departmental/operational manuals as needed
- Conducting research and analysis of potential grant opportunities
To effectively support the department's various operational functions, our ideal candidate will possess:
- Knowledge of clean energy and climate related technologies, energy efficiency, and climate change mitigation and adaptation
- Experience working in a park setting and understanding of current park practices
- Superb organizational and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and editing complex and detailed public and internal documents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience researching, tracking, analyzing, and interpreting data
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer competencies
