Land management plans are the roadmaps to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of our nation’s forests and grasslands. These plans are developed with extensive public and Tribal engagement and provide strategic direction and vision for the future management of National Forest System lands. The Planning Service Organization is intended to establish a coordinated approach and sustainable workforce to update our land management plans. The three inter-regional Planning Service Groups within the Planning Service Organization will provide expert teams of dedicated specialists to revision units to complete the bulk of plan revision tasks. These positions are within the Mountain Planning Service Group which will work with forest plan revisions in Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4.

 

-Responsibilities listed are at the full performance grade level.

-Identify problem areas and prepare plans, policies, and recommendations to resolve these program issues.

-Identify and leverage linkages between agency research and development and program management and delivery.

-Formulate plans, policies and objectives for program area with the immediate manager/supervisor, colleagues, other staffs, other Federal, State, and local officials and non-government organizations.

-Promote studies and the development of data that will help identify high potential program delivery areas and better focus program investments.

-Maintain liaison with others such as scientists or educators who are experts in related fields to maintain awareness of the latest trends and innovations in the field.

-Develop annual and long-term management programs with managers, supervisors, colleagues, Federal, State local officials and non-government organizations.

-Provide leadership in planning, scheduling, coordinating, reviewing, and reporting on an ecosystem-based resource management program.

-Conduct analysis and apply findings from comprehensive technical reviews of literature in the development of national program guidance, mission guidance, or directives.
