The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Chesapeake, and Coastal Service, is currently accepting applications for a Natural Resources Biologist IV. The incumbent is responsible for the organizing, collecting, analyzing, compiling and interpreting technical data for research, stewardship and monitoring activities of natural resource and watershed restoration projects related to improving the health of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. This position also requires the planning, coordination, and execution of natural resource projects with a focus on the restoration and enhancement of streams, wetlands, forests, and shorelines. The incumbent will understand and use various statistical modeling techniques, including R and GIS, for long-term, multi-objective ecosystem or watershed analysis; planning, management, and monitoring of restoration projects; and for natural resource policy. The Biologist organizes and assists the monitoring efforts and collection of data for multiple projects throughout the Chesapeake and Coastal Service Unit. The selected candidate will also direct, assign tasks, train, lead, and evaluate the work of several interns, technicians, biologists, and volunteers regarding fieldwork, data management, and other duties as needed. The incumbent prepares, develops and translates data driven scientific outreach products to end users in partnership with other DNR staff to ensure that data, research and science is informing habitat restoration and management decisions in Maryland.
