Do you want to tell visual stories, make art, and use your creative eye to help make a difference in protecting and restoring the abundance of the world’s oceans? Oceana is seeking a multimedia specialist to join its U.S. policy team. Come join a dedicated group of professionals who are working to protect marine wildlife while also enhancing the capacity of the oceans to feed a growing world population. Ocean conservation is not only critical to reducing the impacts of climate change but also to saving the livelihoods of fishers, their families, and their communities.
The multimedia specialist is responsible for creating compelling visuals (in print and web) for a variety of audiences (e.g., media, elected officials, and supporters) to help Oceana’s U.S. campaigns achieve their goals.
This position requires a strong communicator, who is detail-oriented, team-oriented, organized, interested in conservation issues, and has a flair for designing stunning visual content. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires quick decision-making under pressure, strong multi-tasking skills, and a customer service attitude.
Strong candidates for this position will have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field. The multimedia specialist reports to the multimedia producer and is a member of the U.S. communications team. Due to COVID-19, this position will work remotely until further notice. You would be notified when working from the DC office is required. The position is based in Washington, DC.

Our campaigns extend to countries that, combined, govern nearly one-third of the world’s wild-caught fish, including Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the 27 countries in the European Union.

Beginning June 1, 2022, Oceana’s US offices will be open on a hybrid schedule. This schedule is mandatory and staff are required to work from their assigned office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. With agreement between the employee and their supervisor, the employee may work from home Monday and Friday.
