Working in conjunction with the Vice President of Programs, the LIT Coordinator/Program Manager, and the Senior Facilitators, the Leader-in-Training (LIT) Mentor is responsible for the safe and effective implementation of Princeton-Blairstown Center’s (PBC) LIT curriculum at the Blairstown Campus and occasional off-site locations. The LIT Mentor utilizes a youth development model that actively engages participants and supports them in achieving individual and group goals and helps students increase their social emotional learning (SEL), leadership, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills while living with 8-10 teens (rising high school juniors and seniors) in a unique residential, outdoor setting. The LIT Mentor teaches, facilitates, and inspires while modeling PBC’s core values.
The two-week training period, beginning on June 18th, allows for opportunities to learn skills in facilitation, debriefing, outdoor leadership skills as well as obtaining certifications in: American Red Cross First Aid/CRP/AED and the potential for ARC Lifeguard certification. Mentors will live also take this time to settle into their air-conditioned cabin which will later be shared by their LIT participants. The season runs from June 18th– August 13th and the salary is $500 per week during training (2 weeks) and $600 per week when LIT participants are present (6 weeks) for a total of $4,600.
