CALSTART is seeking a highly-motivated, experienced and results-oriented Lead Project Manager (LPM) to play a critical role in managing CALSTART’s validation & assessment projects and initiatives focused on the advancement of zero-emission medium and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. The LPM will take a lead role in supporting the management of third-party data collection and performance evaluations of clean vehicles, technologies, and fuels.

Additionally, the Lead Project Manager will also:

  • Be a driver of first-of-its-kind fleet projects and programs in the clean transportation sector
  • Manage and provide oversight to a team of direct reports
  • Support writing of proposals in partnership with the Program Manager/Director
  • Collect, analyze and report data on advanced vehicle demonstrations and technologies
  • Support market/industry research to identify trends and gain insights
  • Assist with the development of technical reports, presentations, and webinars
  • Utilize analytical tools such as Excel, R, Python, and Tableau
  • Work with industry partners to solve complex project challenges

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data analytics, project management, other related fields or equivalent years of experience
  • 4+ years of direct project management experience
  • Strong partnership development and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience managing teams, including delegation and performance management and guidance
  • Strong ability to meet or exceed deadlines and able to work with minimal supervision or direction
  • Proven ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear understandable language for stakeholders and other interested parties
  • Manage project partner relationships and oversight of roles and responsibilities
  • Good time management and an aptitude for managing multiple projects at once
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant industry analysis, modeling, and simulation tools
  • The ability to work well in a team environment, thrive on technical challenges, and display personal initiative
  • The capacity to grasp new information and concepts quickly
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and written skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, data analytics, project management, or other related fields
  • Related experience in the clean transportation industry
