The Nature Conservancy in Indiana is seeking a Kankakee Sands Conservation Technician for its 8,400-acre Kankakee Sands Preserve located in Morocco, Indiana. They will join a passionate and skilled team of staff that use a variety of conservation strategies and restoration tools to maintain, enhance, and advocate for this diverse landscape. The Conservation Technician has three core functions: help prepare for and conduct prescribed fire, control invasive species, and collect/process native seed. They will also assist with preserve site management including upkeep of trails, fencing, signs, and bison viewing area; and participate in outreach events, interact with visitors, and work with volunteers.
Minimum qualifications include: a high school diploma or GED and 6-months related training or experience; experience performing physical work in a team environment; and the ability to obtain related licenses and certifications as required.
This is a hands-on, field-oriented position based at our Kankakee Sands Field Office in Morocco, Indiana. It is full time, lasting approximately 6-months, pays $15.17 an hour, and on-site shared housing may be available.
