HERS Rater Field Technician

Opening

Group14 Engineering is hiring a self-motivated and creative HERS Rater Field Technician to join our multifamily team. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills, as well as a strong commitment to energy efficiency. Applicants must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Over one year of experience with blower door and/or duct leakage testing. Currently certified HERS Rater or the ability to become one within six months of starting the position.
  • General understanding of building science and the ability to apply knowledge to new and existing construction, especially in low-rise multifamily buildings
  • General knowledge of multifamily new construction practices and process
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues in the field
  • Excellent organizational skills, effective time management, and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks to achieve long-term goals
  • Ability to travel outside the Denver metro area (overnight to conduct work) up to 30% of the time
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and GSuite/Google Apps

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of current building codes, including IRC and IECC
  • Building Performance Institute Certification
  • Energy Audit Experience
  • Experience with CAZ Testing of residential mechanical systems
  • Experience with ENERGY STAR for Homes/Multifamily, National Green Building Standard, Zero Energy Ready Homes or LEED for Homes rating programs

Key Responsibilities:

  • The balance of time in this role is anticipated to be 80% field work and 20% office work
  • Conduct in-field inspections and testing, including: air-sealing and insulation inspections, envelope and duct leakage testing, ventilation verification, and other rough and final stage building performance verification on multifamily residential buildings
  • Deliver field reports to clients following inspections and provide additional guidance and consultation to contractors as needed
  • Review drawings and specifications for program compliance, including: ENERGY STAR for Homes, Zero Energy Ready Homes, LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities and National Green Building Standard
