What You’ll Do
As Conservation Colorado’s staff and budget have grown, working closely with the CEO to make sure we are prioritizing the strategic needs of the organization and to ensure our staff have an excellent experience starting from day one has only grown more important. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations & Finance, but works closely with the CEO. This role can evolve over time, but you will have these areas of responsibility.
- Coordinate the schedule, travel, and budget for the CEO. Maintain the calendar, including prioritizing incoming meeting requests and setting appointments.
- Support the CEO and executive team on large projects so due dates are met and near final drafts are presented for final review and approval.
- Work closely with the CEO to develop and implement ways to effectively communicate with the board. Oversee creation of the monthly board packets, work with the staff leadership to ensure appropriate communication with board members. Handle the logistics for meetings of the board and executive committee.
- Manage our personnel benefits to ensure equitable access and to make sure staff are enrolled in benefits as eligible, handling annual open enrollments, and looking for opportunities to expand staff’s knowledge about our benefits.
- Implement an inclusive onboarding program so new hires are set up for success on day one, including ensuring new hires have all of the necessary information and coordinating access to resources with relevant departments.
- Collect, analyze and report on data related to staff engagement, demographics, and other data that will help us understand employee trends and respond to improve our staff’s experience.
- Develop programming that fits our organizational culture of giving people the tools they need to succeed.
In addition to your regular responsibilities, all staff are expected to participate at some level in organizational priorities including helping in certain fundraising efforts, taking part in our election-related activities, and committing to our organizational efforts around equity & inclusivity.
To be successful in this job, you will demonstrate the confidentiality, detail-orientation, and efficiency to work well with our team. Fundamentally, we want someone who loves making things work and who has the skills to do that in our context. More specifically, you will have or be most or all of the following:
- Fast paced and detail oriented: Have a passion for making things work well and ability to handle different types of projects at the same time with a no drop balls mentality. 100% follow through is absolutely critical for handling the CEO’s schedule.
- Solutions oriented: Have the ability to look at our systems and propose solutions to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization and to think three (or 30) steps ahead to ensure things run smoothly.
- Managing without authority: Leading on projects where you don’t have direct authority over the other staff is common in this work so being comfortable managing sideways (or even up!) in a collaborative, inclusive manner is important.
- Share our commitment to increasing racial diversity in our movement and organization: Possessing a willingness to do the personal and organizational work around diversity, equity, and inclusivity is vital.
This position does not have an undergraduate education requirement. Spanish/English bilingual is a skill we value, but it is not a requirement. This is a full-time job but there can be some flexibility in the exact schedule.
Compensation and Benefits:
The full-time salary range for this role is between $40,000 – 45,000, based on a wage analysis across the organization and new staff rarely starting at the top of the range.
