More than 12,000 years ago an immense flow of glacial ice sculpted a landscape of remarkable beauty across Wisconsin. As the glacier retreated, it left behind a variety of unique landscape features, recognized among the world's finest examples of how glaciation sculpts our planet.

Today, the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, 1 of only 11 in National Scenic Trails, highlights these landscape features and diverse environments as it courses 1,200 miles through Wisconsin. More than a footpath, the Ice Age Trail is an inclusive space where people from all walks of life can find mental and physical rejuvenation while exploring Wisconsin's glacial landscape.

The Ice Age Trail Alliance, which is responsible for conserving, creating, maintaining and promoting the Trail, seeks an accomplished leader with the passion and experience to lead the organization into a successful future, partnering with an active Board, energetic professional staff, thousands of engaged volunteers, donors, the National Park Service, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and many municipal partners. A strong strategic plan guides the Alliance in support of its mission.

The successful candidate will exhibit exceptional personal integrity, a commitment to ethical conduct, respect for the organization’s history, and a motivating management style. They will be an engaged listener and committed to fostering broad diversity and inclusion among the organization’s staff, volunteers, donors, partners, supporters, and Trail users.

This candidate will have a demonstrated history of strategic planning and thinking; and be able to drive the organization toward long- and short-term growth in trail building, land protection, and conservation. In addition, they should possess strong philanthropic skills to support the work of the Alliance.

Candidates with executive achievement in the field of conservation, advocacy, policy, environmental, business management, strategic planning, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Non-profit senior level management experience is preferred, but not required.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume as a single pdf to jkolbe@iceagetrail.org before August 1, 2022.
