Job Title - Education Intern
Job Overview - The Rio Grande Farm Park seeks a passionate, community-oriented Education Intern to help
implement educational programming in summer 2023. The primary focus will be to implement 2023 Rising
Stewards, a summer working and learning experience for high school youth. This member may also assist
with community educational events that occur at the Rio Grande Farm Park. This member will help the Farm
Park with multimedia education opportunities and passive education opportunities, such as video and social
media.
Intern Duties
● Lead the implementation for the RGFP cornerstone summer high school program: Rising
Stewards.
○ Help lead daily work in the RGFP Rising Stewards Plot
○ Help execute lessons related to regenerative agriculture and business development,
as appropriate
○ Help organize field trips and recreational opportunities, including transportation
and parental permission
○ Help organize daily lunch and snacks for the Rising Stewards program
○ Help work on educational plots and resources at the Rio Grande Farm Park, such as
assisting extra on the Rising Stewards plot
● Assist Education Coordinator with storytelling and data collection for Rising Stewards
● Assist with youth-related activities at the Farm Park or elsewhere in the San Luis Valley with
Generation Wild partner organizations
● Assist with planning and execution of farmer education workshops and community
educational events and farm tours.
● Assist with passive and multimedia educational opportunities at the Farm Park, including
social media.
● Participate with the weekly Mercadillo farmers’ market during the growing season
● Help out with Local Foods Coalition events, when appropriate
Dates: May 1, 2023 through September 29, 2023 (flexible)
Hours: 32 hours per week average
Pay Rate: $15/hour
Location - Rio Grande Farm Park, 6935 State Hwy 17
Supervisor - The Education Assistant will report directly to the Education Coordinator
About the Farm Park - The Rio Grande Farm Park’s mission is to create and sustain a vibrant place where
people come to learn, play, and grow. The Farm Park maintains 15 arable acres for disadvantaged farmers
to grow food regeneratively, while the whole 38 acres provides youth and community education, robust
volunteer programs, and a public park and orchard. While we strive to serve everyone, a particular focus is
placed on high school youth and families in Alamosa and populations that seek farming opportunities but
lack access to land, water, and capital.
