Job Summary:Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center (KS Wild) seeks a Development Officer to work alongside the Executive Director in sustaining and building capacity for the organization’s campaigns to protect old-growth forests, clean water, and wildlife. The Development Officer serves as KS Wild’s front-line personnel for donor relationship-building and cultivating community support, helping advance the goals of our Forest Watch, Climate, and Rogue Riverkeeper programs.
The Development Officer is responsible for planning and implementing KS Wild’s fundraising activities for individuals/households, businesses, and major donors. This position focuses on building relationships with KS Wild’s donor and supporter network, using communication channels like social media and emails, while working with the Operations Director to manage and maintain donor data in our Customer Relationship Management software, EveryAction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fundraising and Development (75%):
- Coordinate and create content for at least two appeals a year via mail and email.
- Donor meetings and phone calls.
- Recurring gifts management.
- Support limited grant-writing and grant reporting functions, with direction from the Executive Director.
- Ensure all donors/supporters are acknowledged and thanked in a timely manner.
- Help manage and keep donor information updated in our CRM - EveryAction.
Community Engagement (10%):
- Support outreach to local communities, decision-makers, or elected officials when opportunities arise from our Forest Watch, Climate & Rogue Riverkeeper program staff.
- Provide donor outreach and support for special events.
Event Support (10%):
- Develop and organize 1-2 presentations or small events per year to highlight various opportunities for community members to support the organization including planned giving presentations and small house parties.
- Support the development, and tracking, of the organization’s annual fundraising plan and annual budget.
- Leverage the volunteer service of KS Wild’s Board of Directors to support the organization’s fundraising and capacity-building efforts.

- Experience managing large amounts of information in a donor database.
- Ability to turn ideas into tangible plans with timelines, contingencies, and action items.
- Confidence with public speaking.
- Great writing skills and ability to distill complex policy and legal strategies into fundraising messages.
- Great listening skills.
- Good at troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with word processing software, spreadsheets, and donor research software.
- Knowledge of IRS’ 501c3 best practices or guidelines for charitable contributions.
Education and Experience Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in non-profit fundraising, membership development, management, marketing, or communications.
- Experience using customer relations management software (we use Every Action), or a demonstrated ability to excel with similar software to build emails, run donor lists, and manage data.
- Preferably 2-3 years of experience working in, or managing fundraising portfolios with at least $250,000 from annual fund donors; or experience taking a smaller membership program and showing consistent growth over a multi-year period.
- Familiarity with budgeting and financial reporting.
Salary & Benefits: Full-time salary commensurate with relevant skills and experience, but in the range of $52,000 to $60,000 annually. KS Wild encourages fluent bilingual candidates to apply and offers a Spanish Language Enhancement for those who qualify.

Organizational Overview: The Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center (KS Wild) is a successful non-profit organization located in southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley, which is considered the traditional lands of the Shasta and Takelma People. We are a place-based advocate for the forests, waters, and wildlife of the Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion, where we promote science-based land and water conservation to protect more than 8 million acres of public lands in southwest Oregon and northwest California. We rely heavily on environmental law and community organizing.
Our vision for this region is one where healthy public lands are accessible to local communities; where cold, clear rivers are suitable for wild salmon and steelhead; and where connected plant and wildlife communities are resilient to climate change. Our work atmosphere is relaxed and fairly flexible, but can be fast paced and deadline-driven. We have a staff of 13, a board with 8 trustees, and a $1 million annual budget.
Location: Ashland, Oregon. As a place-based organization, we are looking to fill this position with an individual who would be located within the Klamath-Siskiyou region of southwest Oregon and northwest California. We allow flexibility for working remotely, from home, with an expectation to report to the office for various staff meetings or functions.
