The Frontera Land Alliance (Frontera), located in El Paso, Texas seeks an energetic, motivated individual to serve as Frontera’s Director of Development who will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing Frontera’s development program in accordance with the organization's strategic plan. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.
About Us The Frontera Land Alliance is a not-for-profit organization that protects—forever—natural areas, working farms and ranches, water and wildlife for future generations in the west Texas and southern New Mexico region of the Chihuahuan Desert. This includes Frontera leadership in education, resource management, and stewardship engaging in collaborative partnerships. Frontera promotes and facilitates balance in prudent approaches to ensuring the sustainability of our natural assets. Duties include building strong and successful relationships, maintaining communications with donors, members and patrons, and collaborating with staff to effectively execute fundraising and/or cultivation events. In addition, follow up on each gift, from writing and mailing thank-you letters to making calls. The Development Director will write grants seeking program funding as well as identifying new sponsors and building stronger relationships with existing ones which includes oversight of the major donor program. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the spring and fall annual appeals, kicking off the legacy program and addressing membership and donor retention. The director will also develop a yearly donor drive that cultivates new donors, members and sponsors. In addition, s/he/they will maintain the accuracy and integrity of the organization's DonorPerfect database, entering gifts/memberships and similar in-kind income, managing membership retention and cultivation, ensuring that gifts and grants are recorded correctly in both the organization's development and accounting reports, and managing all development programs/events on website and social media. Hiree will join our team working to advance our mission, core values and strategic initiatives.
The desired starting date is no later than January 10, 2022. This part-time position runs 12 months with a possibility of extension. $17 to $25/hour for 25 hours per week, depending on level of experience, with no benefits. All positions at Frontera are dependent on available programing funds. If at any time either party wishes to terminate this agreement for any reason, that party will give a two-week notice in writing to the other party.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational skills, reliable, and meet deadlines
- Experience in fundraising, donor development, membership, non-profit work, public relations, and working with diverse communities is a plus • Familiarity with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Publisher, Donor Perfect
- The position requires working weekends and evenings
- Have reliable transportation
