About the job
Do you want to make a difference in the world while taking advantage of your Information Technology (IT) background? Come join a dedicated team of professionals who are working to protect our oceans, which play a critical role in reducing the impacts of climate change, feeding a growing global population, and supporting the livelihoods of fishers, their families, and their communities.
Founded in 2001, Oceana is the world’s largest nonprofit organization focused solely on restoring the resilience and abundance of the ocean. The Global IT Team supports all data storage and processing systems in use at Oceana.
The Data Systems Administrator will work with various cloud-based systems including the Constituent Relationship Management System (Salesforce), Financial System (NetSuite), as well as ancillary programs including Timekeeping and Expense report (Nexonia), and HRIS (ADP), online marketing software (Engaging Networks), integration platforms (Jitterbit, Zapier, Paypal, Benevity), and Business Intelligence (MS Power BI) tools. This position will be the administrator of data-based systems, including scripting and problem-solving of issues spanning multiple systems, under the direction of the Sr. Data Systems Administrator. This will include regular maintenance of the systems, quality control, reporting out, developing, and refining processes for use. The position will develop and implement relevant documentation and training for resources. This role may travel to allow for greater global system use.
The ideal candidate will come to Oceana having administered at least one cloud-based database system. The ability to learn and grow in IT and database skills quickly will allow the candidate to grow their skill set and make a difference at Oceana and how we use systems to automate our processes and report out on our effectiveness.

As of June 1, Oceana's US offices have operated on a hybrid schedule and staff have been required to work from their assigned office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. With agreement between the employee and their supervisor, the employee may work from home Monday and Friday.
We continually evaluate safety protocols and update our practices on an ongoing basis. We are currently operating in a relaxed hybrid schedule until September 6, 2022, which does not require most employees to report to the office through September 5, 2022. We will return to the hybrid schedule on September 6, 2022 based on the CDC community level color coding system of green, yellow and red.
