About the job
The California State Office implements American Forests’ vision throughout California, leading through collaborative partnerships and climate-smart reforestation projects. With wildfires and climate change threatening the existence of California’s forested lands, we aim to restore and save these landscapes by concentrating our work for the benefit of people, water, wildlife and climate.
The Reforestation Pipeline Partnership (RPP) is a strategic collaboration between the United States Forest Service Region 5 (USFS R5), the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE), and American Forests created to address challenges and opportunities in the California Reforestation Pipeline on both public and private lands. The “Reforestation Pipeline” is the system that makes reforestation possible, namely: seed collection, cleaning and storage; nursery production; site prep and planting; post-planting maintenance and monitoring.

This includes implementing the Reforestation Pipeline Cooperative (RPC). The RPC will focus on identifying pinch points in the Reforestation Pipeline and unlock solutions to address those challenges. This position will work closely with regional partners including the U.S. Forest Service Region 5 (USFS R5), the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE), a multitude of nonprofits, and private organizations.
