To further our mission, we are seeking a Business Manager for Development Administration to provide financial oversight and transparency across our various lines of business within our Development unit. In this role, you will work with Innovation and Growth teams team leads to ensure budgetary and financial reporting processes are in place to meet the team’s monthly, annual and future targets. You will own the annual budget process, P&L management, monitoring of results and performance to budget, reporting and forecasting, and work with leads to recalibrate as needed.
Principal Duties (Major Areas of Responsibility)
- Stand up budgeting processes to balance team’s business needs and fiscal reporting requirements of our Finance department—ensuring oversight and transparency in the process.
- Oversee and manage annual budgeting process and business plan development.
- Prepare monthly financial and performance reports as required.
- Provide invoice and accounting guidance to ensure invoices are coded and recorded on a timely basis.
- Prepare, Review and offer insights on trends in our monthly P&L analysis and reporting.
- Partner with Finance team to ensure proper booking of revenue and expense.
- Ensure current circulation projections and future forecasts are accurate and up to date.
- Promotes continual process improvements
Essential Skills/Experience
- 5+ years of accounting, business management or analysis experience
- College degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or equivalent years’ work experience in accounting, business management, analysis or related field
- Proven accounting and financial management skills
- Experience managing direct marketing or publications enterprise preferred
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact comfortably with senior executives and program leaders, vendors, and supporters
- Superior interpersonal skills, professionalism, business acumen, attention to detail, and excellent writing and communication skills
- Superior time management and organization skills
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and, when necessary, as an integral part of the team
- Results-oriented and process-driven
- Advanced knowledge of Excel

This position is based out of our headquarters in Reston, VA. Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
