NWF’s sportswomen’s initiative, Artemis (https://artemis.nwf.org/), is key to the conservation movement’s future and will play a defining role in NWF’s public lands and sporting conservation portfolios.

 

Women comprise a quarter of all anglers, more than 20% of all hunters, and are the fastest growing segment in the sporting community in the United States. Women have economic power, authentic field experience, and fresh perspectives necessary to increase the richness and diversity of the conservation movement. Despite comprising a significant portion of the sporting community, not enough women are leading conservation campaigns, as they are not proportionately represented in wildlife conservation leadership roles.

 

To support our mission, we are seeking an Artemis Program Manager to join the team in our National Advocacy Center office in Washington DC (Due to COVID-19 all employees are working remotely until we make return to work decisions.). This position is open to remote work with preference given to Mountain Prairie or Mid-West states. The position reports to the Director of Sporting Advocacy. The Artemis Program Manager will work with NWF sporting and public lands staff to change this dynamic, continue to build upon our successful sportswomen’s movement, and secure protection and enhancement of America’s public lands, waters and wildlife. The employee will build strategic campaigns, expand our sporting capacity, and maximize resources.

 

Duties of this role include:

 

The Artemis program manager will work with the director of sporting advocacy and NWF Outdoors to manage the entire Artemis program and continue to build on the foundation already in place. The employee will work to develop the efficacy of Artemis from the financial, advocacy, and visibility standpoints to become a nationwide conservation force in conjunction with NWF affiliates.

 

Program-building:

 

  • Recruitment, retention and reactivation of sportswomen across the country;
  • Fundraising from individuals, corporations and foundations;
  • Development of a leadership program that will engage, train and activate sportswomen;
  • Working closely with Artemis Ambassadors to build inclusive sportswomen communities;
  • Working closely with NWF affiliate organizations to bolster affiliates and Artemis;
  • Managing the production of media projects aimed at increasing visibility and effectiveness of Artemis initiative;
  • Utilizing strengths of Artemis Leadership Team to secure media, funding, and outreach opportunities;
  • Guiding and Implementing Artemis Strategic Planning;
  • Collaborating internally with NWF staff nationwide to advance NWF’s strategic plan and Artemis’ role in the organization;
  • Managing Artemis budgets;
  • Managing Artemis grant programs and grant reports;
  • Managing future Artemis staffers;
  • Collaborating with other sporting organizations.
  • Co-host Artemis Sportswomen podcast

 

Campaign Support around NWF public lands and sporting campaigns which includes, but is not limited to:

 

  • Logistical support in organizing meetings, fly-ins and other outreach events;
  • Creating and distributing promotional and advocacy materials;
  • Working closely with online and campaigns teams to assist in the creation of social media graphics, blogs, or other shareable content related to initiative priorities;
  • Other organizational or programmatic support tasks as assigned.

 

Campaign Planning and Development:

 

  • Working with the public lands and sporting teams to accomplish and expand current campaigns;
  • Support in the planning of future campaigns;
  • Managing the creation and implementation of specific campaign tactics.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • BA or BS, with strong course work or work experience in public policy, natural resources management, political science, or grassroots campaigns
  • Minimum of five years campaign or advocacy experience
  • Experience with fundraising and/or capital campaigns
  • Experience in grant management
  • Experience working on a campaign, grassroots organizing
  • Experience using social media tools, online organizing
  • Distinct familiarity with women’s and sportswomen’s conservation issues
  • Excellent organizational, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work on a team and also follow through on assigned tasks independently
  • Good multi-tasking and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines; ability to meet unanticipated needs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • HTML and/or Web Content Management experience a plus!
  • Strong personal commitment to conservation and love of hunting and/or fishing

Travel:

 

This role will require occasional travel, with an average of four to seven nights six times annually, in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

 

$60,000-$75,000 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
