Salary starts at $34.43/Hr. ($71,859.54/Yr.), plusa cash allowance of $600/month, and a competitive total compensation package!*

 

The County of Sonoma's Regional Parks include more than 50 parks, trails, and beaches from Petaluma to Gualala and Sonoma to Bodega Bay. Many offer wild landscapes while others feature sports fields, playgrounds, campgrounds, boat launches, as well as an environmental education center operated by Regional Parks. Included within these environments and facilities are a seasonally guarded swim lagoon at Spring Lake Regional Park, a seasonally guarded riverfront beach at Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach, and four additional riverfront beaches that are seasonally patrolled by a mobile water safety patrol. The Aquatics and Recreation Supervisor hires, trains, and supervises several full-time team members and more than 30 extra help employees. This position trains staff on open water lifeguarding skills, CPR, AED, first aid, and other skills associated with program delivery.

 

The Aquatics and Recreation Supervisor promotes an inclusive work environment that is supportive of a diverse team. They work directly with Supervising Lifeguards, Lifeguards, and Recreation staff and are responsible for:

  • Designing, delivering, and evaluating fitness, water safety, and recreation opportunities that engage the community
  • Monitoring and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices
  • Engaging the community by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with media; community groups; schools; governmental agencies; and swim clubs, recreation vendors, and other private businesses
  • Representing Regional Parks on committees, councils, and community organizations
  • Conducting and coordinating presentations and special events at parks and other community event locations

The ideal candidate for the Aquatics and Recreation Supervisor position will possess:

  • A positive, team-oriented, and entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for parks, programs, and public service
  • Experience supervising and supporting the work of a team and proficiency with developing and maintaining effective operational systems, policies, and procedures
  • 1,000 hours of open-water lifeguard experience at a U.S. Lifesaving Association certified agency
  • Instructor certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Advanced First Aid, and Lifeguarding
  • Superior organizational skills with proven success bringing projects to completion
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience in public speaking and presentations
  • Experience coordinating community events and activities
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly desired, but not required
