{"id":6247,"date":"2026-04-22T15:12:41","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T21:12:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenlatinos.org\/?p=6247"},"modified":"2026-04-28T15:13:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T21:13:15","slug":"greenlatinos-california-commemorates-the-end-of-earth-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenlatinos.org\/es\/greenlatinos-california-commemorates-the-end-of-earth-month\/","title":{"rendered":"GreenLatinos California Commemorates the End of Earth Month by Creating New Green Spaces Across Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PARA PUBLICACI\u00d3N INMEDIATA:<\/strong> 04\/22\/2026<br><strong>CONTACTO PARA LOS MEDIOS:<\/strong> Cumbia Padilla, Communications Coordinator, cumbiapadilla@greenlatinos.org<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GreenLatinos\u2019 Urban Greening Initiative Shows Climate Resilience Starts at Home<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LOS ANGELES \u2014 <\/strong>At the close of Earth Month, GreenLatinos proudly celebrates the growing impact of its Urban Greening Initiative, a community-driven effort advancing climate resilience, environmental justice, and authentic local stewardship across Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From expanding urban tree canopy and community gardens to bolstering youth workforce development programs and neighborhood compost hubs, the initiative has delivered measurable environmental and community benefits since its launch in August 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past six months, the program has:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engaged <strong>more than 7,600 community members<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hosted <strong>350+ community events, workshops, and site activations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Trained young leaders in urban forestry, agriculture, environmental restoration, and climate resilience<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diverted <strong>611,306+ pounds of organic waste from landfills<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distributed <strong>approximately 13,000 pounds of fresh food\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Logged <strong>3,500+ volunteer hours<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planted <strong>201 trees and 35+ perennial plants since the start of the program<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reclaimed <strong>7.44 million gallons of water<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevented <strong>161.22 tons of CO\u2082 emissions annually<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring Earth Month, we celebrate the real impact of our urban greening initiatives. When we invest resources directly into the hands of our communities, our planet heals,\u201d said <strong>Amanda Pantoja, Urban Greening Initiative Coordinator with GreenLatinos<\/strong>. \u201cOur neighborhoods have been caring for the Earth for generations, and this stewardship continues every day in our Latino households and communities.
