America Needs Michael Regan’s Steady Hand At EPA

Washington, D.C. — The following is a statement from Mark Magaña, Founding President & CEO of GreenLatinos, in support of Biden Administration Environmental Protection Agency nominee Michael Regan and his upcoming testimony in front of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works:

“Having spent nearly a decade working under two presidents at the EPA and now as the secretary of North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality, Michael Regan brings the necessary experience to enact President Biden's essential climate policies and to undo the damage the previous administration wrought across the environmental sector. Regan is the leader we need now at the helm of the EPA to build back our environment and our economy better. Latinos are suffering under the twin disasters of an out-of-control pandemic, made worse by the last four years of environmental deregulation and legacy environmental impacts in our communities. We need leaders like Regan who will prioritize our health and environment while creating clean jobs and enforcing our existing environmental laws. Regan will return the EPA to its core mission to protect our health and environment and ensure that the Biden climate and environmental policies are centered on equity and justice.”

Background: President Joe Biden is wasting no time following through on his promise to deliver ambitious action to address the climate crisis. Biden is demonstrating the seriousness of his commitment to making meaningful reductions in the carbon pollution that fuels climate change.
