GreenLatinos CO State Director Elected Co-Chair of the Colorado Environmental Justice Action Taskforce

Colorado -  GreenLatinos is proud to announce that our Colorado State Director, Ean Thomas Tafoya, has been elected to Co-Chair of the state Environmental Justice Taskforce. Securing this important public service seat at the State level is a huge win for Colorado environmental advocacy and the many Latino/a/x, Indigenous, and broad public communities who rally alongside him in his climate stewardship.

To commemorate the election to this important position, Ean Thomas Tafoya released the following statement:

“Now is the time for you to bring forth your best ideas and concerns from the past. It’s time for water to quench the thirst of environmental justice. We can do this TOGETHER because together we rise.

In this position together we will address the environmental needs of all Coloradans, while making sure to pay close attention to frontline communities. We will work to ensure those directly affected voices are heard in the fight for a better tomorrow. ”

About the Colorado Environmental Justice Action Taskforce: On July 2, 2021, Governor Polis signed the Environmental Justice Act (HB21-1266) into law. The Environmental Justice Act commits to strengthening environmental justice. It prioritizes reducing environmental health disparities in disproportionately impacted communities. Out of this law the state created the Environmental Justice Action Taskforce.

GreenLatinos is an active comunidad of Latino/a/x leaders, emboldened by the power and wisdom of our culture, united to demand equity and dismantle racism, resourced to win our environmental, conservation, and climate justice battles, and driven to secure our political, economic, cultural, and environmental liberation.
