GreenLatinos on the Passing of Rep. A Donald McEachin

WASHINGTON - Yesterday, one of the leading environmental justice champions in Congress, Rep. A Donald McEachin, passed away after a long brave battle with cancer.

Today, GreenLatinos mourns his loss and uplifts his memory via the following statement from GreenLatinos Founding President and CEO Mark Magaña:

“GreenLatinos is heartbroken over the loss of Rep. A Donald McEachin. The Congressman was an extraordinary champion for environmental justice issues, speaking up for frontline communities who face the disproportionate burden of the climate crisis. He did all of this with boundless energy despite his underlying health issues.

As a co-sponsor of the Environmental Justice For All Act, his passionate dedication to equity, justice, and environmental liberation embodied the values of our organization. His unabashed commitment to frontline communities represented the communities where our members live. His dedication to fighting climate injustice is a remarkable legacy that will never be forgotten by those living through the burdens of climate crises daily.

As we continue our work, we honor his spirit and dedication to the frontline communities he passionately advocated for. His commitment and unwavering leadership will continue to live via the work of our organization.

GreenLatinos extends its deepest condolences to Rep. McEachin’s wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. His gentle kindness will be missed.”
