Statement on the Release of National Hispanic Leadership Agenda Policy Agenda on Energy and the Environment

Washington, DC – Today, the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda released its “Blueprint for advancing the Latino Community”, it’s National Policy Agenda. Within the policy priorities are specific opportunities for energy and environmental leadership.

The following is a statement from Mark Magaña, Founding President & CEO of GreenLatinos, a national network of Latinx environmental and conservation advocates on the agenda’s release:

“We are facing an existential climate emergency that must be addressed now and the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda’s 2020 Hispanic Public Policy Agenda contains our most ambitious and comprehensive Environment & Energy positions to date," said. “Latinos in the United States and abroad are suffering the devastating impacts of extreme weather in increasingly polluted environments. We are working together with NHLA to deliver equitable and just solutions to protect the health of our communities and the planet." 

GreenLatinos is a national network of Latino environmental and conservation advocates committed to addressing national, regional and local environmental, natural resources and conservation issues that significantly affect the health and welfare of the Latino community in the United States. GreenLatinos provides an inclusive table at which its members establish collaborative partnerships and networks to improve the environment; protect and promote conservation of land and other natural resources; amplify the voices of minority, low-income and tribal communities; and train, mentor, and promote the current and future generations of Latino environment.
