“Our Fight for Access Does Not End Here” – GreenLatinos Celebrates Great American Outdoors Act Senate Passage

Washington, DC –  The following is a statement from Jessica Loya, GreenLatinos’ Director of Policy & Programs, in response to the Senate passage of the Great American Outdoors Act:

Today, Latinx communities across the country are historically one step closer to having equitable access to parks and outdoor spaces in their neighborhoods. The Senate's bipartisan passage of the Great American Outdoors Act demonstrates their solidarity to ensure fully-dedicated funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The passage of the Great American Outdoors Act is a remarkable step in the right direction. Now, we call on the House of Representatives to move quickly to pass this historic bill and support outdoor recreation across the country.

For Latinx communities, parks and natural areas serve as vital spaces to connect to our cultures, the land, as well as spiritual and community practices alike. Our fight for access does not end here – we will continue to advocate for the millions of Latinxs who do not live within walking distance of a public outdoor space or park.
