The person who will fill this 6-12-month research assistant position will research the effects of sidelining science in policy decisions on the most disadvantaged communities in the US through mapping, geographic modeling, and policy analysis. The research assistant will have opportunities to create and develop maps that illustrate the effects of anti-science actions to communities around the US—and will present these products to congressional members, CSD partner organizations, and the academic community. They will disseminate their research on the impacts that anti-science actions have on the public good and our environment and will utilize their work and voice to advance the role of science for a more just and functioning democracy. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and technical expertise in modeling and mapping using geographic information systems. They’ll be comfortable working with experts, activists, and justice-based partners, and people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
