Outreach Coordinator- Science Network
Two-Year Temporary Position
Center for Science and Democracy
Union of Concerned Scientists
Cambridge, MA or Washington, DC
Do you have a passion for community building and helping to develop leaders? Would you enjoy helping diverse experts and scientists get involved with advocacy and civic engagement? The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is an independent national nonprofit that uses science to protect our health, safety, and environment. UCS advocates for science-based solutions to a range of complex problems; our Science Network consists of thousands of scientists, engineers, and other experts nationwide who want to put science to work in tackling those problems. The Science Network Outreach Coordinator is a core part of the UCS Science Network team and will serve as the lead on cultivating our Science Network members, especially scientists in the early stages of their careers. You’ll design and implement leadership development projects for early career scientists, including a small grants fund to boost local advocacy efforts. You’ll also help the Science Network team build an inclusive community and diverse network of members and partners who care about advocating for equitable science-based policies. You’ll have the ability to work independently, balance a multitude of tasks, and you’ll get to collaborate as a member of a passionate and multidisciplinary team. This is a two-year position based in the UCS office in Cambridge, MA or Washington, DC.
