Las Colonias: Environmental Impacts

Colonias are rural subdivisions, typically in unincorporated areas, that lack access to basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity, sewage, or a clean water supply.

We are inviting people who live in colonias or who are from colonias to discuss various environmental issues they have observed in their community. These could include, but are not limited to:

Air pollution
Water quality or availability
Energy access
Sewage or septic availability

This is an opportunity to learn from colonia residents in various states including New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. Our goal is to create a space where folks can share experiences and ideas, learn from one another, and potentially identify some common priorities
