Communications Manager, City Parks Alliance

Job Description: 
The Communications Manager will help City Parks Alliance communicate the benefits of urban parks and green space to current and potential members, policymakers, and other stakeholders. The Communications Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to manage the Alliance’s websites, social media platforms, and digital communications with our members. This full-time position will report to the Communications & Marketing Director. 

Primary Responsibilities (with percentage of time): 
1) Website Management – help manage redesign process for, and content for,, and (40%).
2) Social Media – manage promotional calendar and content for social media channels, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn (20%).
3) E-Newsletters – manage editorial calendar and draft content for monthly newsletter and other promotions (20%)
4) Miscellaneous – provide administrative support for communications and marketing programs, manage production schedules for print materials, and produce occasional reports for board of directors and funders (20%).

Core Functions:
Website Management
• Serve as systems administrator, manage digital content and promotions calendar, and members only restricted areas including agreements bank and webinars. 
• Assist Communications and Marketing Director on pending redesign, manage production schedule, develop new and refresh existing content.
• Maintain analytics and prepare reports on website usage, page views, etc. for sponsorship and funding reports
• Manage content and analytics for, and 

Social Media
• Manage Alliance social media platforms, including promotional calendar and content. 
• Monitor social media platforms for Alliance mentions and engagement opportunities; track city park news and related topics.
• Research ongoing updates to social media platforms and emerging trends.

• Manage editorial calendar and draft content for monthly newsletter, alerts, and promotions.
• Format and send all marketing emails, including the Alliance's monthly e-newsletter.
• Lead promotion of webinar series including partner outreach, advertising, and other e-marketing.

• Assist in managing vendors including e-mail marketing platform (mailchimp), web support contractors, printer(s), etc.
• Prepare monthly social media, email marketing and web metrics and reports.
• Provide staff training on digital media platforms and ensure established digital media protocols and best practices are being followed.
• Manage stock of collateral materials and production/print schedules as needed. 

Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, design, or related field. 
• 2-4 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or media relations. 
• Strong knowledge of and skills in digital communications, website management, social media marketing, and e-newsletters. 
• Strong writing and editing abilities; knowledge of AP writing style.
• Ability to work on many projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Team player, problem solver. Excellent interpersonal skills. Sense of humor. Ability to work independently and in a small office setting. 
• Experience with city parks, urban issues, policy, and advocacy a plus. 
• Strong Microsoft Office, Google Apps and Dropbox skills. 
• Experience with Soapbox, Wordpress, HTML, Mailchimp, HootSuite, and Cvent, preferred.
• Graphic design, photography, and video editing experience preferred.
