Thank you so much for making the 2nd Mariachi Karaoke Challenge event celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month such a success!
Last night gave us the opportunity to celebrate the tremendous victories that our organization has achieved over the past year, including critical monuments designations in our communities, the finalization of the important farmworker protection standards that will better-protect farmworkers in the fields from harmful exposure to dangerous pesticides, creating tremendous advocacy for the reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation fund – which helps fund parks, lands and open spaces in our communities – all of these accomplishments would not be possible without supporters like you.
More importantly though, we were able to come together as Familia to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and affirm our commitment as Latinos to our deeply-rooted environmental and conservation heritage!
We need to take a moment to celebrate our accomplishments… but only a moment. Our work is not done, and we have significant challenges ahead. GreenLatinos is currently undertaking a number of important campaigns leading into our National Summit in May of 2016, including:
- Strengthening environmental justice provisions for impacted communities
- Implementation of a national outreach effort to engage Latino communities in the development of state Clean Power implementation plans
- Building coalitions around supporting and engaging indigenous communities in their struggle to protect treasured natural resources
- Encouraging National Hispanic advocacy partners to decline funding from industry polluters that harm our own community
Finally, the tremendous work that the GreenLatinos national network accomplishes would not be possible without your support. Please consider making a donation of whatever amount you can give to support the important policy, advocacy, and community engagement that is so essential to our mission. Thank you for your continued support of GreenLatinos and our work!
