COVID-19 & Impacts on Clean Transportation for Latinx Communities

Led by Andrea Marpillero-Colomina, Clean Transportation Consultant & Joel Espino, Transportation Working Group Chair

With Nicole Wong, Campaign Manager at Green For All

COVID-19 has upended our lives, including how and when we travel. The impact for Latinx and other BIPOC communities has been particularly devastating, as they have faced disproportionate rates of infection and death. Join this encuentro to discuss the COVID and post-COVID transportation landscape with massive shifts in public transportation, safe guidelines for ridership and shifts in commuter traffic. We'll consider the following policy asks:

To identify how public transit agencies can better serve Latinx communities and keep them safe in the face of the COVID pandemic.

To advocate for a more diverse set of travel options, including the implementation of better and safer bicycle infrastructure in Latinx communities.

To establish data collection and monitoring standards that capture how vehicle emission trends have changed following the emergence of COVID.
