    Hi ,

My name is James and I am the Community Outreach Coordinator for the COSECHA Study, a sub-study of the CHAMACOS Study in UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health. I recently reached out to our contacts at the Migrant Clinicians Network and they referred me to you.

We are the longest running environmental health study of mothers and children living in an agricultural region. COSECHA has collaborated extensively with high school youth in the Salinas Valley, CA, training them on research methodologies, incorporating their perspectives into study protocols, and facilitating them in gathering scientific data from their peers with regard to exposure to potentially harmful pesticides. Attached is a brief overview of the project for reference.

The youth wanted to make sure that scientific results were translated into Spanish, in simple language, and that they outlined simple things people can do to potentially reduce their exposures, so they made a voice-acted Radio Novella Series. Their hope is that these episodes (7 episodes, 60-90 seconds each) could be aired on radio stations that have a broad audience of agricultural families. So far, they have aired on 10 radio stations across California, Oregon and Washington. Might your team be willing to share these Radio Novellas with your network?

I am writing today to inform you about an upcoming event. Refuge Outdoor Festival, is a three-day camping experience to explore and celebrate diversity in nature – and in life. Geared toward people of color, allies welcome. The festival is a safe space for ALL participants and ALL levels of outdoor enthusiasts are welcome (novice and seasoned).

Happening next month, September 28-30 at King County’s Told Macdonald Park. I am asking if you could help us spread the word on your site or social mediums? If so, I’d be happy to send over a flyer – I would just need an email address.

Here is the website url. Please let me know if you have any questions:

Black Millennials for Flint, the first African American & Latino grassroots organization focused on lead prevention in US History, invites all environmental justice and civil rights advocates, activists and leaders across the country to participate in our 2nd Annual “Young, Gifted & Green Community Action Summit” during Congressional Black Caucus Week 2018.

The Summit is taking place on Thursday, September 13, 2018 2pm at the Thurgood Marshall Center for Services. The goal of the summit is African American & Latino Millennials to come together to advocate and fight for a #LeadFreeUSA. We will discuss practical ways that we can implement a lead free country using civic engagement and legislation.

This event will include panel discussions, presentations and workshops to inspire the next generation of African American & Latino environmental justice leaders. Special Guest for the event include Mari Copeny “Little Miss Flint” and TMZ’s Senor Producer Van Lathan. The post-reception will include an awards ceremony honoring legislators and community leaders advocating for lead prevention.

My name is Alex and I am the Philadelphia Climate Defender Organizer with PennEnvironment. PennEnvironment is a citizen’s-based environmental advocacy group, and we aim to support statewide and national efforts to promote clean air, water, and energy. As part of that effort, we like to coordinate with a lot of other groups that have some presence in the Philly area to partner on events and mobilize grassroots actions to protect the natural world that we know and love. I am not sure if you have much if any presence in Philly, but if you even have some volunteers, I would love to get in contact with them so we can coordinate and work together moving forward. If you have any questions about me or PennEnvironment and what we do, feel free to contact me via email or any of the numbers listed below. Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you soon!

    All the Best,

    Alex Lola

Hello, I run a Riverkeeper organization in North and South Carolina. I am interested in connecting with the LatinX communities in the areas where we advocate for clean water with hopes of engaging these communities in the fight for our right to clean water where we live, work and play. Some of the areas where we work are in NC (Laurinburg, Lumberton, Whiteville) and in SC (Conway, Florence, Georgetown). Many thanks for any connections!

I’m an L.A. resident.  I’m writing to suggest that your group prepare for a firing of Mueller with lawful, peaceful, significant response.  I believe that the sense of normality and acceptance that seems to exist to such a great degree between marches between Jan. 20th and the next Jan.20th can be challenged.  I’d like to find some group willing to create a model event that shows that anyone can participate in person in an appeal for impeachment— anytime she or he is at a sporting event, concert or gathering(that does not involve employees or employer).  When the big hand on the clock hits 12: “Impeach.”   Enjoy the game. But know that the majority in the crowd(that actually won the last presidential election) is going to show that the unity and sense of normality and acceptance that fans exhibit when cheering for their home team together — also masks the growing outrage over the racism, fascism and lies.  Even if that outrage is only shown a couple of times when the minute hand hits twelve: “Impeach.”  It probably can be started in a small gathering as a model for other larger groups; and those groups as models eventually to inspire a spontaneous response in a stadium. This should be started before there can be a Mueller firing.  I’m sending this out to several groups(large and small) in the hopes that some group will take ownership of the idea or at least be ready to be a participant.  Best way to be Green is to get rid of Pruitt/Trump H Bernstein

I am contacting you on behalf of SHIFT (Shaping How we Invest For Tomorrow), an annual festival, held each autumn in Jackson Hole, that explores issues at the intersection of conservation, outdoor recreation and cultural relevancy.

The 2018 SHIFT Festival will explore the health benefits of time outside: how outdoor recreation on our public lands creates a healthier citizenry, attracts new customers to the outdoor industry, promotes stewardship and advances quality of life in communities across America.

Each year, SHIFT researches individuals, organizations and initiatives from around North America that leverage outdoor rec for conservation gains and evaluate their work using three criteria: Impact, Innovation and Replicability.

The work determined to be most impactful, innovative and replicable is considered for the Shift Awards.

Representatives of official selections for the Awards are then invited to the annual SHIFT Festival, which is designed in part to showcase their work.

The 2018 SHIFT Awards will focus in particular on work that advances or promotes the health benefits of time outside.

Green Latinos has been recommended to us for the SHIFT Awards by Catherine Nagel, ED of City Parks Alliance. Green Latinos is a commendable organization and we would be honored to learn more about it. Do you have any time this week for a phone call?

    Thank you,
